Yup; amazing that he didn't win in that yr before it ALL went south (Yikes!!! 73 and 74 might have been great for the boys, but the American Political Landscape was forever altered, eh?).

(I always took that as a reference to the 72 election although I understand it to be a healthy, normal rate)

As you know, he was based out of Italy and flew 15 missions in WW2. His war ended distributing food that summer in Europe.
